About Arva

Arva Dilawar is a trained counselling psychologist from the Tata Institute of Social Sciences (TISS) at the Banyan Academy of Leadership in Mental Health (BALM) and the co-founder of Knit A Tale. With a robust educational background and rich practical experience, Arva is dedicated to using the power of psychology and storytelling to foster mental well-being and community connection.

Professional Journey

Arva’s professional journey began with her role as a school counsellor, where she played a pivotal role in establishing the counselling department at 21k School. Her innovative approach led to the creation of the Child Protection Committee, significantly enhancing student safety and wellness. Beyond her school-based initiatives, Arva co-founded Knit A Tale amidst the global pandemic, aiming to connect people through the therapeutic power of storytelling. This platform not only serves as a creative outlet but also addresses mental health issues by allowing individuals to share and process their experiences in supportive group settings.

Impact and Initiatives

Through Knit A Tale, Arva has introduced several impactful initiatives like ‘Emotional Alchemy’ and ‘My Anxious Child,’ workshops designed to help individuals and parents understand and manage their emotions effectively. Her efforts extend to regular storytelling sessions that promote mental relaxation and community bonding. Her dedication to mental health advocacy is evident in her volunteer work with the Mirra Charitable Trust and her insightful internships, where she focused on individuals with developmental delays and severe mental disorders.
