THEME

Every issue will have a specific theme. Any and all pieces contained within the issue will be based on that particular theme.

The theme for the next newsletter will be teased in the previous week’s issue of our newsletter, our website and our social media handles so be on the lookout for that.

The theme for this month is: ECHOES

SECTIONS

The newsletter is divided into different sections. You can send in your work for as many sections as you like. The guidelines for the same are mentioned below. We request that the contributions you make adhere to these guidelines.

Knits

The essence of Knit a Tale where people come together and create a story. Here, you may use our theme as a prompt and take it from there in any way you would like. The story continues with each person from your group taking turns to contribute to the story. This is a unique approach where a person begins the story and the ones that follow can take it forward as they like. It is different from collaborative writing because each person can add their unique elements to the story at any time, this is a way of coming together for a common goal, at the same time respecting each one’s opinions.

To submit a knit, you can have up to 5 people knit a tale with you whilst taking turns. Each person must limit their contribution to 5 sentences at a time, making it a total of not more than 25 sentences.

KATchronicles (Original Written Pieces)

Here you can have your own take on the theme of the week. Have a personal story, incident, memoir, fantasy, critique, based on the theme? Send it all here.

*If there is a particular person in real life, a character from pop culture, a celebrity that you feel fits well with a particular theme and you would like to write about them, you can share that and how you feel it relates to the theme, that can be featured in our newsletter as well.

KATlists

This amazing section curates a list of references from books, music, pop culture, artwork to documentaries, new researches, current events based on the theme. If you come across something that fits our theme or have a personal connection with it send it in with a short note (up to 100 words) on what it means to you and how it links to the theme.

Original Write-ups/Artwork/Photos/Music

If you’re a creator and have any piece based on the theme you can send it here. Digital art as well as scanned copies of artwork are accepted.

For pictures .jpeg and .png formats are accepted.

For music you can send us a link, or a snapshot with the lyrics if its not uploaded anywhere.

GENERAL GUIDELINES

All pieces to be emailed to us at submissions.katalyst@knitatale.com in the weeks leading up to the publication of the issue. Our newsletter will be out every 15th and 30th/31st of the month. The last date for submission of work and the theme for the next two issues will be specified in every issue. Submissions after this date will not be considered.

Any submissions which are inappropriate in terms of language, content or style which hurt the sentiment of any being or contain explicit sexual content will be deleted.

Do specify the way you would like to be credited for your work in the mail. You can choose to send in any or all of the following:

Your Name

Picture

Social media handles/blogs/websites/channels.

If you do not want us to feature your details and wish to remain anonymous, do specify that as well.

We are currently not paying featured creators at the moment, but you will have a dedicated audience via our subscribers.

The pieces that will be chosen for publication are based on the editorial team’s discretion.
