My Haven

To my dearest love,

 I know,
 the sun can seem dangerously bright
 in a world that should be dim,
 but if there is light,
 can you at least try to let it in?
 Storms will come and go,
 and come what may,
 destruction is not a path
 I want for your fate.

 I've heard home can be a person
 more than a place,
 but I want you to live in a world
 that always feels safe.
 I hope my arms
 can be a home
 that lives in your heart.

 I know sacrifice is not something
 you should have to make,
 just as I'm sorry
 I've said not to wait.
 You say you are clinging,
 holding onto the idea my sea is calm;
 if it brings you peace,
 carry on.
 I'm remembering your face
 with every bit of light I have;
 but there are things
 that cannot be photographed.

 From the bottom of my heart,
 Someone whose fate is sincerely uncertain,
